A few of my favorite things right now...

I haven't done a post like this in forever, but right now I have a few "favorites" that I want to share:

1. Downton Abbey! Alright, I will say, I never got on board with this show when it got big a few seasons ago. Recently, I have been able to watch via Amazon Prime Instant Video and I can't get enough. I'm almost through season 2 and I hope to get through season 3 so I can start watching when season 4 starts up in January 2014 I think!

2. SPARK! I have been drinking an Advocare Spark since before I was pregnant with Callan. I actually was in the middle of a 24 day challenge when I found out I was pregnant with her. Needless to say I didn't continue it, but I can't wait to do another one once Callan is a bit older and eating solid foods! A lot of the girls I work with will drink Spark. It is a great "pick me up" in the afternoons when I'm wishing I was napping with the girls, but other things need to be done. My favorite flavor is fruit punch.

3. Baby squeals! I'll let the video speak for itself. Callan has quite the voice on her.

4. Pull-ups...we are pretty much potty trained over here! Woohoo! Campbell really took to it pretty well, and since it was her idea, it wasn't all that hard. But I must admit, I do get lazy, and with travel, and trips to the playground, well, pull-ups are a must! Campbell really surprises me most days and holds it, for long periods of time, I might add. But when she can't she knows she can rely on a pull-up. She is very smart, and we always tell her that just because she has a pull-up on doesn't mean she shouldn't tell us when she needs to go to the potty. Many days, she will keep the pull-up dry to  my amazement, even with running tons of errands, or playing so hard, not taking time to potty. I'm so so proud of my girl! She's just so big. Not a baby anymore.

5. Matilda Jane: I may or may not have gotten in trouble by my husband for the amount of money I spent on the girls when I had the opportunity to buy a few MJ outfits. In my defense...the resale value is high, and the girls should get 2 years out of their outfits...plus more. Love the quality of the fabric and the colors and styles! If you are interested, I know a couple people who are trunk keepers that you can order from.

6. Mr. Lid: If you are anything like me, your tupperware drawer/cabinet is a mess. I have too many, mismatched pieces. Lids scattered everywhere...it's just a disaster and my hubs absolutely hates it. I had seen these around the internet and bought them off of Amazon! LOVE! Attached lids...best idea ever!

7. Justin Timberlake! I must admit, I've been a fan since his N'SYNC days! And after seeing him on VMA's I fell back in love! He puts on a great show. Well, lucky me...the hubs bought tickets for me, my sis, my aunt, and my best friend! It's my birthday gift! Happy 30th to me! Can't wait for December 4!

8. Texas Tech Football and coach Kliff Kingsbury! Just proud to be a Red Raider and excited for this season and football again! We've been to one game already and have plans to make the trip to Oklahoma for the OU game! Can't wait to sport the red and black some more. Plus, I think I have 2 of the cutest red raider fans out there!

I'm sure I could think of more, but it's taken me all day to get this post up, so for now, that's it! What are some of your favorite things right now?

A 3 month post...

Happy 3 months to my littlest love! It's hard to believe it's been 3 months, but then again, it feels like it's been forever...

Callan Blair, you have completed our family! Your big sister loves you so much. Every morning she gets up and asks, "where's my baby Callan?" She enjoys talking to you and making you smile! She wants you to "talk" more to her, which you do more and more everyday. She gives you kisses every day and truly does love you!

You are my chunky monkey! Close to 16 pounds now. You easily fill out 6 month clothes and size 2 diapers. You have the chubbiest cheeks that mommy can't stop kissing on.

You are still very much a momma's girl, but I love how you recognize your daddy's voice, and you give him the biggest giggles and grins. He adores you, baby girl!

Nights are getting better, most nights anyway... You usually wake up once in the early morning (4-6) and then will sleep until 9-10 am after going to bed close to 10pm. You have slept through the night a few times, but it is few and far between!

You still have a temper...which we see when you are overly tired or when you are stuck in your car seat with the car not moving enough. Oh girl, you scream your head off. And there isn't a whole lot that makes it better. Lots of bouncing and rocking and walking. Momma is gonna have muscles from carrying you all the time!

You went to daycare for the first time last week when Mommy went back to work. I didn't think I would cry or be upset, but I guess knowing how hard a time you've had with your reflux, tummy issues, and bottle refusal, I didn't want to leave you. You did much better than I expected. You took a few ounces of every bottle and napped really well. I was so proud of you!

I must say, you have been quite a bit harder than your big sister. I try not to compare you two, but I find myself doing it all the time. I'm trying to get better. You are your own little self and I shouldn't compare your personalities. You melt my heart with your sweet grin. You have found the perfect little place in my heart and my love grows everyday for you!

Campbell on the left, Callan on the right...crazy, huh!

Happy Birthday to you...Jess!

Today is my best friend's birthday! Happy 3-0! I am so glad I got to spend time celebrating with you a week ago!

Jessica has been a friend since college. We went to nursing school together! We actually figured out that we played basketball against each other at a tournament when we were in high school! She took a job in Abilene just out of school and I went back to Lubbock. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding! Eventually, we ended up here in DFW. And then I talked her into coming to work with me at Children's! I loved it! I got to see my friend every single day! That was the best few years... then I had Campbell and decided to move up to the Legacy campus and work less. So lately we haven't seen as much of each other as we both would like. Life has kind of gotten in the way, and I'm so sad about it!

Jess, you are and always will be one of my closest friends! You are an amazing nurse and you will make the best mother one day! I pray you have a super blessed year and we see more of each other! Happy 30th...I'm not too far behind! I love you!!!

OMG, this is college. We look like babies!

P.S. Jess, don't kill me for posting all of these pics! I love to look back and see what a good friend you have been to me! Love ya!

Fun at the Zoo!

This past Thursday Jacob stayed home from work since he had been gone for a whole week. He wanted to spend some time with his girls, and we more than loved it! We really started out being lazy. He got up with Campbell and let me sleep in! We snuggled in bed and just were lazy....but then he was like, Campbell, do you want to go see some animals? Let's go to the zoo! Alright...let's go...

We got to the Dallas Zoo a little after noon. It was pretty warm and super humid, but it wasn't busy at all so we got to enjoy it. Campbell could see anything and everything she wanted! She even fed the giraffes, which I didn't get a picture of because I was helping her. When I asked what her favorite animal was she told me puppy dog....I had to giggle. No, what is your favorite zoo animal...she thought for a second. Giraffe! So cute!

Here's a few pics of our zoo adventure. Many more of those to come I'm sure. I can't wait to take her to the Fort Worth Zoo in the future with my parents!

So thankful for daddy who took a day to spend with us! It was much needed and extra special!

Labor Day Weekend and other things...

A lot of stuff has happened since my last post. Overall things have been better...

We started off our Labor Day Weekend going to the Tech vs. SMU game! Jacob got free tickets through a guy at work and we went with my aunt and uncle. It was a pretty great get away for me. The girls stayed with my parents. They were really good! We ended up spending the rest of the holiday with my parents. Just relaxing and playing with the girls. Labor Day was spent at Mo & Poppy's! It was nice to hang out with everyone and cook out.

Jacob has been gone for work for almost a week now. We are so ready for him to be home tomorrow. Thankfully my parents were able to come this weekend and help me out. This whole parenting 2 girls by myself is a hard thing. Like I've told everyone...I just survive when he's gone.

What else? Well, I've been trying to cut out dairy. It hasn't been easy. There seems to be milk in everything. I do what I can. Callan has good and bad days. We've been on Zantac with her for a little over a week. Some days it seems to be working great, and other days I can't tell a difference. I really think between reflux and an immature digestive system, she is just going to be fussy. I'm praying soon that she will grow out of it and I can enjoy ice cream, glasses of milk, and Starbucks again soon!

Last week Campbell told me she didn't want to wear diapers anymore. Seriously, she has been peeing on the potty for a while now, but just randomly and not consistently, because let's face it, I just haven't had all the time in the world to focus on potty training with a new baby in the house. Well, yesterday we just went for it! She will still wear pull-ups for naps and bedtime, but panties the rest of the day. Yesterday was a pretty darn good first day! She didn't have any accidents...today though, we haven't been so lucky. But the next couple days we are really hitting it hard. She will be going to daycare towards the end of the week with many changes of panties and clothes, and I pray it just clicks in her little brain! She is such a big girl!

I go back to work on Friday of this week. Friday the 13th...I hope that isn't bad luck. I'm anxious to go back, a little worried about Callan, but it's all pretty normal. She will be fine... and it's only a few days a month. I'm so thankful I was given the opportunity to keep my girls most of the time and keep working.

Yesterday was Grandparent's Day! We are so blessed to have wonderful parents that are the best grandparents to our girls! And Jacob and I are also so thankful to my Mo & Poppy and his Granny Nell & Papa Kermit! We love you all so much!

Campbell and I went to a friend's daughter's 1 year birthday party, and I also went to one of my best friend's surprise 30th birthday party this past Saturday. We had a blast! I got to hang with just my big girl...and then have a few hours alone with some sweet friends! It would have been so much better if the hubs would have been home, but we are so grateful that he works so hard for us.

That's about all I can think of for now. It was a little recap of what's been happening the past few weeks!
